The Dutch brewers Jopen beer and SNAB have been awarded five times at the European Beer Star - the leading beer election of Europe. The international jury awarded Jopen two 'silver' awards and one 'bronze' award. SNAB Brewers won a 'silver' and a 'bronze' award. "These awards show that Dutch specialty beer is on the rise. It is beautiful to receive such a compliment from these beerindustry related jury. "said the lucky winners Michel Ordeman of Jopen and Marcel Vermeulen from SNAB. "The small Dutch breweries have there roots in many markets, they brew a wide range of beers. The prices prove that we are not inferior to traditional beer breweries in countries like Belgium or Germany, as our customers have already discovered. " Interestingly, the prices fell in very different beer categories. Thus, the silver honors in the category Summer Ale (Jopen Gerstebier) Belgian Style Ale (brewers SNAB 1410) and Dry Stout (Jopen Extra Stout). The bronze awards fell into the category German-Style Dunkler Bock (brewers SNAB Ezelenbok) and Belgian Style Tripel (Tripel Jopen). The jury More than 955 beers from 34 countries participated in the contest, in as many as 44 categories they competed for an award. A 88-member international jury reviewed the beers include color, odor, foam and of course the taste. The prizes are awarded at the November 11th Brau Beviale trade show in Nuremberg, Germany. The European Beer Star Award was created by private brewers and the Association of Small and Independent Breweries in Europe. Purpose of the competition is to correct the special characters and authentic beers with specific events; beers that stand by their taste and quality. On Saturday, October 22, 2011 the Tastiest Bockbeer in the Netherlands was again elected. This year the election took place into the lively city of Amsterdam at brewery ‘De Prael’. SNAB also succeeded this year by winning a price with one of its bock beers. In the category of heavy bock beer Ezelenbok has won the 3rd place, thus the total of top three quotations for SNAB at 10 (Ezelenbok 6 x and IJsbok 4 x) since the establishment of the election in 2001. The many positive reactions from consuming beer lovers, pubs, restaurants and liquor stores, has made SNAB to decide to continue production of Purmerend anniversary beer 1410 after the anniversary year 2010. That the 1410 specialtybeer also is appreciated by connoisseurs appeared last November 11 during the awards ceremony of the European Beer Star competition at the Brau Beviale fair in Nuremberg, Germany. SNAB Brewers is awarded twice at the European Beer Star - the leading beer election of Europe. From the international jury SNAB received for the 1410 specialty beer a silver award and for Ezelenbok a bronze award. The award for 1410 is certainly a surprise, because the top three in the category "Belgian Style Ale" is for years dominated by prominent Belgian beers / breweries. More than 955 beers from 34 countries participated in the contest, in as many as 44 categories they competed for an award. A 88-member international jury of experts judged the beers include color, odor, foam and of course the taste. The promoters, members of the group Purmerend 600 years and SNAB, are very proud that 1410 has won such an important award in the introduction year of the Purmerend anniversary beer. A recognition for which also the mayor of Purmerend Don Bijl expressed his appreciation for, also in the context of a promotional piece for the city of Purmerend. From 1 January 2011 will 1410 loose its exclusivity for Purmerend and go beyond the city limits to meet the many requests of beer loving Holland. | |||
